Fooding
Since I have been here I learned that the banana flower is eatable. It's acrid, fresh and tasteless. This is why the best way to enjoy it, is to have a gravy on the side to spice it up.
I have been trying a lot of new dishes but the most uncommon for me was the diversity of leaves that are eatable. I don't even bother to ask their names as it will be given in Lao and finding the scientific & common names will be just so...
The other discovery is padek (kind of nuoc man). It goes with anything raw like green mango, papaya salad and of course laap (cooked or raw one).
And as for the drinks my fav all time is the passion fruit juice but I don't mind some beer too ^^
